Project Controller

Position is based in Hauppauge, NY

Reporting:

This position reports to the Eastern Region CFO

Functional Responsibility:

-- Project Accounting
- Customer Billing
- Customer Collections
- Financial Reporting for internal, corporate and external requirements

n Monthly Job Cost Reports

n Project Reports - Backlog, Contract Status, etc.

n Other Reporting - as required
- Annual Budget and periodic forecasts - Revenue through Contribution Margin
- Contract Administration functions -
n Subcontract commercial administration
n Material receipting and accruals
n Project cash flows
n Earned values
n Develop comprehensive cost to complete models in conjunction with project management personnel

Position Objectives:

- Ensure accurate and timely preparation and presentation of Hawkeye financial information
  n Lead monthly job cost reviews and closing process
  n Definition and preparation and presentation of Hawkeye financial information
     - Strong use of summary and exception based reports
     - Focus on Executive level requirements.
- Financial analysis
n Be able to convey to management appropriate assessment of results for each segment of the business.
n Understanding and quick analysis of all financial accounts - Revenue and Direct Costs
n Use of appropriate financial tools
     - Trend analysis
     - Ratios
     - Benchmarking
     - Variance analysis
     - Forecasting/projection
- Budgeting and forecasting
n Work closely with CFO and Company managers in analysis of operations and forward looking projections
n Maintain files for budget and forecasting models
- Internal controls - Management must have the confidence that the financial information and reports that it uses to support its decision making and understanding of the business are accurate, timely and based upon a consistent, reliable set of business processes.
n Insure that the core business processes and procedures are defined, proffed (efficiency and accuracy), understood by the users, consistently applied.
n Revenue recognition is defined and accurate
n JDE System operates in accordance with Hawkeye business processes
n Annual audit has no internal control weaknesses for Hawkeye
n Other:
     -  Authorization matrix compliance
     -  Purchasing compliance for projects
     -  Billing
- Personnel Matters
n Direct Reports
     -  Objectives established for each which flow down from the CFO / VP Contract Admin / Job Cost Mgr.
     -  Personal development plan in place for all subordinate positions
n Peer / Management
     -  Strong business relation established with company management
            n Must insure confidence is in place for management to take advice from Project Controller position
            n Mark of success in this area will be how management seeks Controller out for information and advice
     -  Gain understanding of the critical business issues for each segment of the Hawkeye Region
n Personal
     -  Personal development plan in place
     -  Maintain CPA certification (if candidate has CPA)
